Resume

Joan Chirwa is a journalist with many years of experience both in the field and in leadership positions. She worked as a reporter and managing editor of The Post and later as chief executive officer and editor-in-chief of The Mast newspaper. In 2018, she founded the Zambia Free Press Initiative (2018). Joan is also Southern Africa correspondent for the Committee to Protect journalists (CPJ), a member of WANIFRA’s World Editors Forum, Zambia Media Freedom Committee, International Press Institute (IPI) and the Program Council of international civil society organisation Forum 2000 Foundation, which supports the values of democracy and respect for human rights. She is currently a learner legal practitioner in Zambia.
